Do you believe there's intelligent life on other...
I think it’s ignorant and selfish to think we’re the only ones out there, or that we’re the most developed and intelligent. Think about how big the universe is - and could there be more than one? What is ‘intelligent’ to us may not be to them. We could be the flecks of dust on a giant’s foot. Who knows?

Do you believe in God?
Tricky. I would say no, but then I’d be frightened that he heard me. That’s the problem with a Catholic education. I have serious doubts about there being a God, but what annoys me more are the people who force you to make up your mind. What’s wrong with being undecided? I don’t want to be on either side of the fence. I’m happy thinking there might be something up...

Do you enjoy cooking?
Not as much as I enjoy eating. But yes, I find myself enjoying the odd occasion when I get the kitchen to myself. I’m partial to Jamie Oliver’s recipes, they’re nice and easy and always do the job. I still don’t know how long to boil an egg for, though. It’s like that part of my brain will always be empty. A big egg-timer void.

What kind of a name is Narelle?
It’s a pain in the backside, that’s what kind of a name it is. At school I could always tell when my name was about to be read out, it would be preceeded with an ‘erm, uhh…’. I’m quite grateful for it now, though. It’s a name people remember, even if they can’t spell it properly.

Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
It depends on the situation. I’m more extrovert than introvert, but it relies heavily on my frame of mind and the people I’m with. I enjoy company and can be a pain in the backside with my need to share the most mundane aspects of my life with people (this is a perfect example), but there are times I like to keep myself to myself.

Who's the most overrated musician?
Now that’s a good question. If it had been ‘which musician do you hate the most’ I’d have answered Bono without pause. However, U2 had some good songs in their early career. Out of the current top 40 I would say Dizzee Rascal is mind-blowingly overrated. And irritating.

Star Trek or Star Wars?
Star Trek! Loved all the shows but TNG was my favourite. The reboot was brilliant too. Star Wars is great, but I came to the party a bit too late (I actually watched them in episode order, that’s how late I was).

If you could go on vacation for the next month...
If safety was guaranteed, Egypt. All month long, just wandering about the place. It’s fascinating. So much history, so many secrets. I’d probably end up hunting for a Daniel Jackson lookalike kicking about the place, but that’s all part of the plan!

What household chore do hate to do the most?
Doing the dishes - THE most boring chore ever. I’s forced me to buy paper plates and plastic knives and forks just to reduce the amount of times I have to do them. Mind numbing.

What profession other than your own would you like...
If I could do it all over again (and have the relevant talent for it), I’d be a writer. I’d love to write a novel. Everyone’s got a novel in them, I hear. I once had a dream that I invented a little bit of plastic that turned a laser into a lightsaber. That wouldn’t be so bad either. Lightsabers for all!

what do you make of the London 2012 identity?
It’s easy to go with the crowd and say it looks awful, but I think it has good and bad points. While it’s disjointed and looks a bit ‘fresh prince’, in motion it’s alright. It’s not one I would have chosen, but at least it has people talking.

What's your favourite cheese?
Roulé is my favourite fancy cheese but you can’t beat a good cheddar. I had an Arran Cheddar with chilli in it last year and it was fantastic. I think cheese is the one thing I couldn’t give up. I’d rather give up chocolate and alcohol before I gave up cheese!

I’m self taught, as scary as that sounds. I’ve been an employed web and print designer for over 5 years and learning all the time. I’d love to go back and do a course, but I just don’t have the time (or funding) right now. Open Uni is calling!

What's your favorite sport?
I don’t do sports. Physically taking part in sports is scary. The only thing I enjoy which is mildly related to ‘sport’ is the driving range. Something about hitting a ball as far away as you can, then not having to pick it up - bliss. As for watching sport? Wrestling. Half naked, built men running around? Lovely.

Would you rather date a lot of different people,...
I think it’s harder to be in a committed relationship, but ultimately worth the effort. Getting to know someone takes time and I still get pleasantly surprised, even 7 years down the line.

What's your favorite type of flower?
I love tulips. It’s the uniform shape and bright colours that attracts me to them. Roses are nice, but a little cliché these days.
